Hey guys my laptop makes a weird high pitch squealing noise and Im not sure the cause although I have an idea. It doesn't happen all the time but appears randomly. Now I know most people are thinking its the hdd except this laptop has an ssd so it can not be that. It has a cd drive but the sound doesnt appear to be coming from that part of the. Today at lunchtime I put the computer to on defrag whilst at work, I have just had a call from my better half telling me the computer is making a high pitched squeal. Both times the noise would not stop on its own, when it done it today no user was nearby and nothing had changed to my knowlege. Any ideas whats happening?

I had been playing around with WMM attempting to get the narration to function, so maybe I muckéd up sométhing, but I reset the audio loudspeaker and microphone in Control Panel Audio, made certain the Audio driver had been up to date and those dreamland't proved helpful. The noises, both a gritting sound and the high pitched noise, are continuous. So no clicking hard drive noise but there seems to be a constant gritting or grinding? So, both the high-pitched and gritting sounds are continuous and only stop when the laptop is in.
